Arctic Drive Demo Beginner Guide: First Car and First Trip

Prepare the Arctic Drive Demo starter car, protect warmth and fuel, then leave the garage with a version-aware first-trip checklist.

Get the starter sedan functional before leaving: fit the required vehicle parts, confirm fuel and a working battery, keep doors fitted for warmth, and carry food, water and repair supplies. Follow the scenario objectives, but treat roadside loot and vehicle locations as procedural rather than fixed.

Step-by-step checklist

  1. Read the active scenario objective and search the starting building and garage before loading the car.
  2. Fit the parts needed to make the sedan functional. Demo-file descriptions identify the engine, battery, radiator, oil and wheels as operational parts; exact slot logic is not claimed here.
  3. Check fuel and pack food, water and the starting-garage revival kit before leaving. Do not rely on spoiled food as normal supplies.
  4. Keep vehicle doors fitted when possible: the official Demo trailer specifically identifies doors as protection from outside cold.
  5. Drive the road, stop at points of interest for fuel and supplies, and recheck the vehicle before continuing into a blizzard.

Build the first car before optimizing it

The official Demo overview starts with Brian missing and another vehicle that must be made operational. A developer answer published with the current Demo identifies it as a sedan. Prioritize a functioning vehicle and survival supplies before cosmetic parts or a replacement truck.

A safe departure check

The official trailer calls fuel the most important range check and says doors keep cold outside and warmth inside. Demo-file text also identifies a battery as required to start the engine and motor oil as protection against engine destruction. Those file descriptions support what to inspect, but not an exact quantity or UI sequence.

Use the road and treat locations as variable

The world, biomes and points of interest are procedurally generated. Official material describes stopping at structures for fuel and supplies. A dated developer Q&A says roads are faster and less slippery than snow, but route positions and loot should not be presented as fixed.

Carry a margin, not just the objective item

A September playtest report ran out of fuel after changing vehicles and describes illness after eating spoiled food. Treat that as a version-specific warning rather than a guaranteed outcome. The practical lesson is stable: inspect labels, refuel when possible and keep basic food, water and repair capacity before switching cars.

What this guide does not verify

This guide does not claim fixed item locations, exact engine requirements, a minimum fuel amount or a guaranteed starter layout. Build 25843608 has not been live-run verified by IndieTome; procedural generation and Demo patches can change the sequence.
