Ratatan — Beginner Rhythm & Fever Guide
Lock in a steady 4-beat rhythm before chasing extra damage. Use free movement and jumps between beats to reposition, call Fall In to pull Cobun out of danger, trigger Guard to halve incoming damage, and time squad Jumps over boss sweeps without canceling mid-air.

Read the 4-beat rhythm prompt and move freely between commands
When you are not entering a rhythm command, your Ratatan can move and jump freely—use this window to reposition safely. Watch the 4-beat command prompt on screen, tap the four beats at a steady tempo, and wait for your Cobun squad to respond before starting the next phrase. The seven official tutorial cards below summarize each core command.
Basic Ratatan Controls
Ratatan can move and jump freely when not inputting rhythm commands. Jumping is particularly effective for avoiding enemy attacks.
Rhythm Commands: Fall In
Using the "Fall In" Rhythm Command will call the Cobun to gather around Ratatan and move alongside them.
Rhythm Commands: Normal Attack
Using the "Normal Attack" Rhythm Command will call the Cobun to move towards the enemy and attack them. The higher a Cobun's WIZ, the faster they will move and attack.
Rhythm Commands: Hustle Tech
Using the "Hustle Tech" Rhythm Command will call the Cobun to launch their Hustle Techs. Using a Hustle Tech requires 20 MP.
Rhythm Commands: Guard
When using the Guard rhythm command, the Cobun benefit from a temporary guard effect. While in this state, the Cobun take 50% less damage and are immune to Knockback.
Rhythm Commands: Jump
Using the Jump rhythm command commands Ratatan and the Cobun in your current squad to jump high in the air. If timed correctly, jumping can be used to avoid powerful attacks from bosses.
Rhythm Commands: Jump
Entering another Rhythm Command part way through a jump will interrupt the jump and begin the next action.
Protect your Cobun squad with Fall In, Guard, and un-canceled Jumps
Use Fall In to pull scattered Cobun back to your side so they move in sync with your Ratatan. Normal Attack sends Cobun forward (higher WIZ speeds up their movement and positioning), while Hustle Techs spend 20 MP for class skills. Trigger Guard before heavy hits to grant Cobun 50% damage reduction and Knockback immunity. Use Jump to leap over boss shockwaves with your active squad—never input a new rhythm command mid-jump while a hitbox is still active, because any new command immediately interrupts the jump.
How Fever tension builds (+6 Good / +12 Perfect) and how miss penalties scale
Consistent rhythm inputs build squad tension toward the Fever threshold of 100: base gains are +6 for Good and +12 for Perfect. Missing beats or failing commands deducts tension, with consecutive failure penalties scaling from −15 to −40 and −50. Because facility upgrades, Ratatabilities, and unison bonuses modify tension gains, treat these numbers as base values rather than a fixed command count to reach Fever.
Plan an upgrade before farming
Check the weapon’s recipe and target level, then calculate the direct materials. Level caps occur at 50, 60, 75 and 90. Mark completed breakthroughs so that you do not count the same materials twice.
