Voodoo Fishin’ Beginner Guide: Cast, Catch & Recover
Learn the Voodoo Fishin’ fishing loop: build a rig, cast, set the hook, manage tension, sell fish and recover lost tackle before dying again.

Start with a water layer your equipment can reach. Follow the fish while reeling, keep useful junk for enchantments, and learn the recovery rule before carrying valuable tackle.
1. Equip your rod, reel and bait
The keyboard tutorial uses T to open the tackle box and F to equip the pole. It asks you to select Basic Fly to fish the Top layer. Compare your reel and bait depth with the fish you want; Top, Pelagic and Bottom are layers, and some items cover more than one.
2. Cast and set the hook
Yank the line LEFT or RIGHT when a fish nibbles to hook them
Hook sensitivity can be changed in Options. Alternate cast modes, remapped inputs and controller instructions may differ.
3. Reel while managing tension
Lead the fish while fighting to tire it out without breaking your line!
Ease up when the line is close to breaking. Fish weight, speed and endurance vary, so rod strength alone cannot guarantee a catch.
4. Store and sell your catch
Bring your Cooler to the Fish Monger to sell fish.
The starter Cooler has six slots. You can also sell a fish from your hand. Press G to drop the Cooler.
Before selling Junk at Rusty Remy’s, check whether it is needed for an enchantment recipe.
Why am I only catching junk?
The game gives two direct explanations: your rig does not match nearby fish, or the area is fished out. Check depth and bait tags against the fish guide, then try another suitable area. Finding one preferred habitat tag is not proof that a particular fish must be there.
What happens when I die?
One more thing, cher. If you die with your Pole equipped, you’ll lose any Tackle that ain’t Eternal. So be careful out there.
You have 1 life to recover your lost Tackle. Go to where you died, then touch or CAST at your Tackle to retrieve.
Carried Fish are still lost. Recovering Tackle does not restore your catch.
What should I upgrade first?
First fix a mismatch between your target fish and your rig’s depth or bait tags. Then compare the rod and reel parameters against the problem you encounter. This guide does not claim a universal best rig or a verified farming route.
