HEAT LEVELS

Show image

In the city, completed combat encounters raise the Thorns’ Heat level.

When their Heat level reaches a new threshhold, more or tougher enemies

are deployed throughout the city.

STASIS BOMBS

Show image

Rifter Stasis Bombs threaten the existence of frozen civilians within the blast radius.

While the energy blast does not affect the Thorns, it will erase the defenseless people in range.

DEFUSING STASIS BOMBS

Show image

Tampering with a Stasis Bomb will summon Rifters to defend it.

Be ready! There is limited time before the first wave of enemies arrives.

During combat, to reduce the defuse turn count, one Thorn must be

within the bomb’s defuse range at the end of the enemy turn.

The bomb will go off if the detonate turn count reaches 0 before it’s defused.

HARVESTERS

Show image

The Rifters use their Harvesters to siphon Elixium from deep underground.

Engaging in combat around these machines will draw in more enemy forces.

Reach higher vantage points to aim into the exhaust ports of

a Harvester’s heavily armored Power Cores.

Take out all 3 Power Cores to destroy the Harvester.

HARVESTER DEFENSES

Show image

Engaging in combat around Harvesters triggers their failsafe.

Within a certain number of turns, the Harvester will generate

enough power to teleport out of danger.

Destroy the Harvester by taking out its Power Cores before it can leave.

With each Core destroyed, the Harvester’s teleport turn count increases.

On destroying a Core, the remaining ones go into a temporary defensive mode.

Move to the next vantage point, and take your shot once the Cores become vulnerable again.

RIFTER STASHES

Show image

Rifters store weapons and explosives in storage containers.

These are unique items that can only be found within Rifter Stashes.

In combat, Rifters will attempt to keep their supplies out of Thorn hands.

DEFENDING RIFTER STASHES

Show image

During the enemy turn, some units will attack the Rifter Stashes.

If they are destroyed, no items can be looted from them after combat.

Keep a Thorn close to it at the start and end of your turn to restore some of its health.

ANTENNAS

Show image

Rifter antennas are integral to their communication relay systems. These remotely monitored signal extenders consume a great deal of energy, so they are activated only when needed.

Tampering with these devices in any way alerts the Rifters, causing them to send reinforcements to the area.

Sabotage

Show image

SABOTAGE - Hacking an active antenna alters its defensive protocol, causing its consoles to become vulnerable. As a result, Rifters respond to the disturbance. With each wave survived, your Heat Level is reduced by 1, until it is depleted. Destroying all of the consoles stops additional waves from coming in.

Ambush

Show image

AMBUSH - Activating a dormant console results in wasted use of precious Elixium energy. As a result, Rifters respond to the anomaly. With each wave survived, your Heat Level increases by 1. At least one Thorn needs to be near the antenna at the start of each turn to ensure that more reinforcements are deployed. Starting a turn with no Thorns close to the antenna stops additional waves from coming in.
