Probably Stolen Beginner Guide
Learn the Probably Stolen Demo shop loop, rent planning, item inspection, reputation and package version limits without unverified strategy claims.

The official Demo presents a shopkeeping loop built around buying, crafting, trading and smuggling while rent rises. Keep enough cash for the next obligation before expanding stock.
1. Treat the opening choice as a rule set
The official Demo description advertises three starting scenarios plus a hardcore mode. Read each setup before choosing it; this 0.46D package review did not verify which scenario labels are active in the current Steam build.
2. Learn one complete trade loop
Start with values you can see: acquisition price, intended sale price, quantity and rent. The profit calculator shows the margin and how many identical sales would cover that rent, without guessing at hidden demand.
3. Inspect before you commit
The official store description calls out stolen goods, contraband, counterfeits and Augs as item properties you may need to identify. Verification matters because a familiar name alone does not establish an item's legal or commercial state.
4. Separate stock knowledge from availability
The item catalog is a package reference, not a promise that every item can appear in this Demo or your current scenario. Use it to recognize names and descriptions while relying on the game for current prices and access.
5. Read perks as templates
The perks and upgrades page preserves shipped text and marks values that the game fills at runtime. Confirm costs, levels and unlock conditions in your current build before planning around them.
6. Check the version before using outside advice
The supplied folder identifies itself as 0.46D. The public Steam Demo description and specialist references can reflect later snapshots, so numeric advice from another site may not apply to this package.
Sources & version limits
Names, descriptions and item icons come from the supplied Windows package, which identifies itself as 0.46D / Unity 2021.3.45f2. The public projection keeps 180 items with directly matched sprites and narrows starting perks to 25 factory names present in the recovered code structure. Reviewed October 13, 2026. The executable, raw dialogue, engine references, audio, debug assets and local paths are excluded. The build was not run or playtested.
